Motion Picture Academy Museum Trip Join us as we visit the Motion Picture Academy Museum on the Miracle Mile as we celebrate the art and science of movie making. This year, the museum has new exhibits on Hollywood's Jewish founders and how they created the industry and how it became the global influence center it is today, along with many other exhibits. We will stroll through all four floors of the museum, then head to the rooftop plaza for a breathtaking view of Los Angeles from Hollywood to downtown. After the museum, we will go by bus to Canter’s Deli. Sign-ups begin Monday, January 13 either at the OLLI office or click here to register. Dinner and “Best of Bach” Concert On March 3, 2025, we will travel to Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove to attend the “Best of Bach” concert, featuring the Cathedral’s huge, newly refurbished organ and the Cathedral’s Choirs. This is a secular event, although some of the music will be religious in nature, because that is much of what Bach composed for the organ. The Cathedral’s Hazel Wright Organ (aka “Hazel”) recently completed a multi-year, $3 million refurbishment. It is the world’s 5th largest pipe organ, with 17,106 pipes and is now is in superb condition. Before our concert, we will enjoy a buffet style dinner at Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. Sign-ups begin Monday, January 27. Click here to register. Click here for the Dinner and Best of Bach flyer with more information. |
