Meditation for Everyday Life
Selected Mondays • 3:15 p.m.-4:30 p.m. • Room 18
June 4, 11, 25 • July 2, 23, 30 • August 6
Meditation is a simple way of training your mind that can transform your life in a positive and lasting way. Numerous scientific research studies have shown that meditation can positively affect your psychological and physical well-being by reducing stress, depression, anxiety, blood pressure and addictions. It also boosts the immune system, improves memory and brain function and helps deal with chronic pain. Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome. In addition to traditional meditations, this summer we will continue practicing meditations to awaken joy and happiness. We will follow the curriculum of the Awakening Joy course as developed by James Baraz and Shoshana Alexander and will use their book, “Awakening Joy: 10 Steps to Happiness,” as guide and inspiration. It is recommended, but not required, that you purchase the book for reference, further reading, and to support and inspire your practice. Meet at 3:15 p.m. to set up the room; class will start at 3:30 p.m.
