Using Penny Gardner’s Nine-Note series for alto recorder as well as interesting supplemental material, including some playing from memory and rhythm games to enhance brain function and counting skills, students will learn to read music, including standard notation skills and various musical terms and symbols, and play music, both solo, duets and occasional trios. The class is designed to accommodate beginners and more experienced players together, is fun-paced and varied, and was a strong success during the 2016 fall semester. Those students who do not have an alto recorder may purchase one from the instructor at a cost of $26. Students must bring a music stand to this class. To assure there are enough recorders, please send an email (by Tuesday before attending first class) to Ellie Monroe at ellie.monroe@mindspring.com.
