Thursday, March 9 at noon   •  Mackey Auditorium

Irena Praitis, CSUF Professor of literature and creative writing, will read from the recently published anthology, Open Doors: An Invitation to Poetry , that honors the reading series and the work of poets who have read on campus.  The twenty-six contemporary American poets in the anthology represent a wide range of styles, voices, and cultures. Included are emerging and accomplished poets who have garnered honors such as a MacArthur "Genius Grant" Fellowship, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Walt Whitman Award, a Best American Poetry selection, Poet Laureate of the United States, Poet Laureate of Arizona, and more.

OLLI poets will read from their newest anthology, A Poetic Body Of Works. According to John Brugaletta, professor emeritus at CSUF, “Reading [this] anthology is akin to dining at a buffet—everything is different and [filled] with images, metaphors and rhyme with aplomb.”

The program culminates in an “open mic” where students may read poetry.

Join this powerful and intriguing afternoon of emotions, morals, mischief and heartfelt confessions.
