Aesthetics for a Richer Life

Alternative Mondays • 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. • Shapiro AB/Stream-Rec

February 2, 16 • March 2, 16, (30 no class) • April 6, 20 • May 4

As we get older, our world narrows, we retire from professions, children leave home, and we lose loved ones and friends.  Regardless of our finances, we can feel impoverished.  The everyday seems gray and bland. Excitement of first experiences is in memories.  By understanding the importance of aesthetics and beauty, our lives can become richer.  By contemplating and finding an aesthetic experience in the everyday and the accessible, our lives can become richer and more meaningful.  Each class will consist of  a short talk on an aspect of aesthetics, a presentation of actual or images of objects, music, or other art or natural forms and a discussion of how these ideas relate to members of the class, answering class members' questions, and sharing their experiences
