Google Docs is a Google app with complex functions nearly identical to those of Microsoft Office’s Word, but it offers many additional features, such as automatic backup, unlimited storage, very precise sharing capabilities and easier menus to learn. The documents are stored on your Google Drive on the internet—in the cloud—and created and edited via an internet browser, not a program installed on a specific computer. Thus, all files are accessible to all collaborators that you select, anywhere, anytime, with any type of computer or mobile device with an internet connection. While prior experience with Microsoft Word will make it easy for you to learn to use the menus for Google Docs, those lacking prior experience with Word may find it much easier to learn and use than Microsoft Word.
