Computers and iPad for Artists Workshops—WIMD7

Take one or more workshops to learn to utilize iPad applications (apps) to facilitate the workflow for producing artwork. This requires purchasing several apps and downloading Dropbox and other apps for the iPad (to be done in the first workshop, WIMD7-1, so be sure to have your Apple ID login information for making purchases). Use these apps to help improve accuracy in drawings, create value studies and photo references and to have creative fun!

Getting Images On and Off Your iPad––WIMD7-1
Monday • 10 a.m.-noon • Room 11
Session 1: January 23
Prerequisite: iPad 2 or higher and an interest in visual arts
Pre-registration Required—Lab Fee: $5
Goals for this class meeting: 1) Be able to set up your iPad for doing artwork; and 2) Be able to add photo references to your iPad.
Adding Grids to Images for Accurate Drawings––WIMD7-2
Thursday • 10 a.m.-noon • Room 11
Session 1: January 26
Prerequisite: IMD7-1 or be able to access photos on your iPad
Pre-registration Required—Lab Fee: None
Goals for this class meeting: 1) Be able to download apps to your iPad; 2) Use an app to add grids to a photograph to create accurate drawings and 3) Use an app to modify photographs to aid in accurate drawing and painting.
Using a Drawing Program to Solve Potential Painting Problems—WIMD7-3
Thursday • 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. • Room 11
Session 2: February 23
Prerequisite: IMD7-1 or be able to access photos on your iPad
Pre-registration Required—Lab Fee: None
Goals for this class meeting: 1) Be able to download art apps to your iPad; and 2) Use features of a sketching and painting app to aid in creating value studies for painting and to answer “What if I do this to a painting ...” type of questions.
Using Your iPad as a Document Camera or as a Camera Lucida to Trace Images—WIMD7-4
Thursday • Noon-2 p.m. • Room 11
Session 2: March 2
Prerequisite: iPad 2 or higher and an interest in visual arts
Pre-registration Required—Lab Fee: None
Goals for this class meeting: 1) Be able to download art apps to your iPad; 2) Be able to use your iPad as a document camera and 3) Be able to use your iPad as a camera lucida to trace an image from photographs.
