coordinators and instructors workshopOLLI Instructors Workshop

This is not being offered during the fall semester.

Tuesday, May 16, 2017 • 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. • Shapiro ABCD • a  light lunch will be served.

Have you attend OLLI classes and discovered that the Blue Book write up and the actual class content or activity did not match? To prevent this from occurring, we are considering having the course learning goals included in the Blue Book write ups.

We have scheduled a second workshop based on the feedback received from those who attended our first workshop in August, 2016 and in light of incorporating learning goals in future Blue Book write ups for OLLI classes. The May 16 workshop will focus on developing and articulating learning goals for the class(es) you teach using the “backward design” approach, additional tips on effective classroom management techniques, and a discussion on how we can improve OLLI’s programs.

With over 140 classes being offered each spring and fall semester at OLLI, we are having issues with scheduling classes in appropriate spaces. While all our instructors and coordinators are volunteers and have had free rein on how they conduct their classes, we are fast approaching a crossroads when difficult decisions must be made on what is offered, and where and when courses are offered. We would like to begin a discussion at the end of this workshop
on how OLLI programs should be shaped and feel that those involved in providing OLLI’s programs should be involved in these discussions.

If you would like to attend the workshop, then please click here to register online.  Please register by Friday, May 12th (the deadline was extended). There will be a limit of 30 participants, first come, first served.

Coordinators:  Janice Jeng, Joyce Ono, and Glenn Kawafuchi
