What is OLLI at CSUF?

We are the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at California State University, Fullerton. To learn more about who we are, you can visit this page to explore our membership benefits and what we offer.

You can also explore the history of OLLI at CSUF to see how our organization has grown over time.

For additional details, please review our mission statement and organizational structure.
Note: OLLI at CSUF is a volunteer-run organization. With the exception of the four individuals listed as “ex-officio,” all members are volunteers. This includes our instructors and nearly everyone who contributes to our programs.

How do I take a class at OLLI?

To participate in OLLI, you must first become a member (see the next section for details). For most courses, no additional registration is required once your membership is active—you are welcome to attend any class that interests you.

Some courses may require pre-registration due to limited classroom space, and a few may include fees to cover course materials. Any registration requirements or fees will be clearly noted in the course description.

Note: Certain classes are designated as “Open to the Public.” These sessions may be attended without an OLLI membership.

What are the Membership Requirements?

Anyone who is retired or semi-retired is welcome to join. OLLI members come from a wide range of backgrounds—no college education or prior connection to the university is required.

The only requirement is a desire to learn and/or volunteer alongside new friends.

Lifelong learning never retires!

How do I join OLLI?

You can become an OLLI member by registering online through here.

How do I access OLLI's online courses via Zoom?

For information on how to use Zoom and access links to our online courses (OLLI members only), please visit this page. Once you become a member, a variety of training classes are available to help you get started. You’ll be set up with your own CSUF Zoom account in no time.

What is offered by OLLI?

We offer courses across a wide range of topics, including arts, sciences, and the humanities, as well as day trips, multi-day travel opportunities, and social activities. Many of our classes are also recorded and made available online for later viewing.

What is happening today at OLLI?

You can see what’s happening at OLLI by visiting our calendar page. The main calendar  displays all upcoming activities, and you can use the dropdown and toggle options to filter events—such as viewing what’s happening today.

As an OLLI Member, can I take courses in other departments at CSUF?

Yes, OLLI members may audit CSUF courses with permission from the course instructor. For more information about auditing courses, please visit this page.

Can OLLI members use the CSUF's Pollak Library?

Pollak Library Access

OLLI members may continue to use Pollak Library resources. The process has been updated to make access easier.

Online Resources
Guest user computers are available on the first floor of Pollak Library North and are open to the public. To log in, use your OLLI-CSUF username and password.

Checking Out Library Materials
A guest library card is no longer required. You may use your California driver’s license or state ID to check out materials.

OLLI members are classified as Special Borrowers, with the following privileges:

  • Up to 10 items
  • 28-day loan period
  • One additional 28-day renewal (prior to inventory check)

These guidelines apply to most circulating materials, including books and government documents. Some items may have shorter loan periods or may not circulate.

Printing
Printing requires a guest account, which can be obtained at the Student Genius Center. A valid photo ID (such as a driver’s license or state ID) is required.

Funds can be added to your account at the TitanCard Desk. Please note that funds expire at the end of the day, so it is recommended to add only the amount needed for printing.

As an OLLI member, can I use other CSUF campus experiences and resources?

Yes. OLLI members are encouraged to take advantage of a variety of campus resources and experiences. Please refer to the information below for available opportunities and ways to get involved.

Campus Experiences and Resources (CERT)

OLLI’s Campus Experiences and Resources Team (CERT) is an ad hoc group formed in October 2023 to help members discover and take advantage of the many opportunities available on the CSUF campus.

CERT includes Trustees-at-Large Kent Morris and Jill Patterson, along with Your Essential Guide to OLLI & Campus Activities editor Kathy Gilroy.

Purpose of CERT
OLLI members have access to a variety of campus benefits, but many may not be aware of them. CERT was created to identify and share campus resources, experiences, and events that may be of interest to OLLI members.

  • Participate in campus and College of the Arts tours arranged by former OLLI President Ellie Monroe
  • Read about campus resources and events in the weekly Announcements & Events newsletter
