Writing A Children’s Book
Alternate Thursdays • 10 a.m.-noon • Zoom
September 9, 23 • October 7, 21 • November 4, 18
We all have stories to tell from our childhood as well as the experiences of our children, grandchildren and pets. Most children’s books feature children and/or animals, both real and imaginary. In the first part of the class, we will discuss children’s books, their similarities and differences. We will also consider format, style, vocabulary, age and reading level. These are some factors that make writing for children different and more challenging than writing for adults. Participants are encouraged to bring a children’s book to share. The second part of each class will be devoted to obtaining feedback for your own story ideas and creations. Between classes, students will critique each other’s work via email. There will be opportunities to collaborate with OLLI artists as well.
