Merriam Webster Dictionary defines an Invention as a device, contrivance or process originated after study and experiment. This course hopes to explore some of the inventions throughout history. Many of these inventions helped shape the technologies we use today. The Great Courses DVD portion of the course is hosted by Professor Bernard Carlson, Head of the Department of Engineering and Society, University of Virginia. Each class will consist of two, approximately thirty-minute, presentations followed by discussions and some demonstrations.
