This program is the second in a series of presentations regarding heart disease and stroke. It is presented by the Golden Hearts organization for the benefit of all OLLI members, all Elks Club members, and the general public. The Golden Hearts organization is a St. Jude Medical Center support group with the mission to educate the community regarding heart disease and stroke. Heart disease and stroke are the number one killers in America and stroke is the number one cause of permanent disability. Both of these disease processes are, to a great extent, preventable. With new research, technology, medications, professional know-how and education it is possible to prevent and treat effectively the ravages of these diseases. These subjects will be discussed in layman terms by experienced, well-trained specialists in cardiology and stroke from the medical staff of St. Jude Medical Center.
